Stepping into 2025: Growth, connection and purpose

2024 was a year of growth and transformation for Accuracy Matters. We’re excited to step into 2025 with renewed purpose and some exciting goals.

Happy new year from us all at Accuracy Matters!

I’m enjoying the opportunity for reflection and the optimism of a new year, with 365 (or slightly fewer by the time this is published!) days to take advantage of. I’ve always loved January because it’s my birthday month and I like winter – when it’s natural for us to slow down, look inwardly, get under a blanket with a gigantic cup of tea and binge-watch The Traitors

The Accuracy Matters team gained three new staff members in 2024, so we feel well set to take on the new year. As usual, we’re gearing up for a busy reporting season from mid-January through until after Easter. We do still have capacity for new projects during this period – having recruited a number of excellent freelance associates last year who do not work on annual/corporate reports – so please contact Angela (angela@accuracymatters.co.uk) or our team email (team@accuracymatters.co.uk) if you are looking for editorial support over the coming months.

While much of our work involves deep focus in the office, I’m making it a priority in 2025 to connect more in person with our community and clients. I’ve always believed that a fully remote business can work brilliantly for both staff and clients, but following Covid and my own health problems that left me housebound for periods in the last few years, I’m relishing the opportunity to get out to more industry events, workshops or simply to catch up over a cup of coffee. Sometimes Teams doesn’t cut it. With that in mind we’re going to hold four in-person team days this year (following our two successful team days last year) and were also planning to host some workshops ourselves for our team/clients/connections. You can book time to meet with me here.

An important part of our mission is to work with serious and impactful content that makes a difference. By prioritising projects with integrity and purpose, we aim to contribute to a more informed and positive society, where words inspire and empower rather than harm, mislead or distract. We will no longer be engaging on X/Twitter for this reason. In all our work, we champion fact checking, clarity and using communication as a force for good.

Beyond the world of words, we’re exploring how Accuracy Matters can contribute to meaningful causes, whether financially, through volunteering or working with charity partners. We will continue to donate to the National Literacy Trust – and every client feedback questionnaire we receive will increase the amount by £5.

Once again, I want to say thank you to our staff, freelance associates, clients and supporters, for being an integral part of our journey. Every project we undertake is a collaboration and we continue to learn so much by working together. Best wishes from me for a prosperous, interesting and fun 2025.
